VETpreneur Project Successfully Concludes, Strengthening Entrepreneurial Education Across the Western Balkans

The VETpreneur project, a multi-country initiative aimed at strengthening entrepreneurial education and aligning vocational education and training (VET) with the European Entrepreneurship Competence Framework (EntreComp), has successfully concluded after three years of intensive collaboration and implementation.

Funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in VET component, and implemented by a consortium of 11 partner organisations from 7 countries, VETpreneur brought together schools, VET providers, civil society organizations, and experts from education, business, and policy sectors with a shared goal: to modernize entrepreneurship education and better equip young people and educators with skills relevant to today’s labor market.

Key results of the VETpreneur project include:

  • Establishment of a regional, cross-sectoral Western Balkans EntreComp expert group, which developed a comprehensive Guidelines for Integrating EntreComp Framework into Secondary School and VET Curricula. This document serves as a practical tool for educators and institutions seeking to systematically embed entrepreneurial competencies into teaching and learning.
  • Training of 105 teachers in integrating EntreComp competencies into classroom practice, strengthening their capacity to apply modern, learner-centered, and competence-based approaches.
  • Training of 129 teachers from Montenegro and  Bosnia and Herzegovina to implement the Student Company program, significantly expanding access to experiential entrepreneurship education.
  • Organization of three international mobility programs hosted in Serbia, Slovenia, and Cyprus, involving 80 participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Participants included students, teachers, VET learners and educators, and representatives of civil society organizations, who gained practical experience for personal and professional growth.
  • Development of the PBEL (Project-Based Entrepreneurial Laboratory) online platform, available in three languages, which is already being actively used by more than 100 teachers and their students across three countries to support project-based and entrepreneurial learning.

Through these results, VETpreneur has contributed to stronger regional cooperation, improved quality and relevance of VET and secondary education, and increased alignment with European frameworks and labor market needs. The project’s tools, platforms, and trained educators will ensure that its impact continues well beyond the project’s formal end.

The VETpreneur partnership remains committed to further promoting entrepreneurial competencies, innovation in education, and collaboration across the Western Balkans.
